Chatto Creek Gypsy Horses

- beauty, quality, genetics and versatility

The humans in the household are Peter, Charlotte and 14 year old Sofia. Peter works as a geologist and goes overseas for work regularly, Charlotte is a small animal veterinarian working locally and Sofia attends the local high school.

We fell in love with the Gypsies once we met Star of Brackenhill and some of the mares at Gypsy Magic Stud. Lots of reading and discussion ended in us deciding that this breed in the perfect family horse - they can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities!

In 2011 we moved the our mares from Waikato to Central Otago. We now live on a big lifestyle block just north of Alexandra, the climate here is generally nice and dry, which suits both humans and horses.

There is currently a cat and 8 dogs in the family too - Charlotte has been breeding Leonbergers for 15+years and has just recently had the first litter of French Bulldogs.

We have Polish and Polish Frizzle bantam chickens that keep us supplied with fresh, free-range eggs.

Sofia is competing Chatto Creek Sirocco in eventing, jumping and dressage. The attend pony club regularly and we are often away in the weekend attending competitions. She has also been riding Brackenhill Dusk.

Most of our horses are started under saddle (and some are going in harness too), so in our spare time we often take some of the horses along the rail trail to the river for a ride, which is something we all thoroughly enjoy.

We enjoy getting to know people who are interested in out beautiful breed and love showing visitors our horses, so if you are ever in the area, please do come for a visit.
